Where We Are


Cornafean is located in County Cavan,  Ireland. We are approximately 80 miles (120 kilometres) north-west of Dublin and 90 miles (144 kilometres) south-west of Belfast. Cornafean lies approx. 10 miles or 15 kilometres west of Cavan Town, the county's administrative centre, and a similar distance south of the border with Northern Ireland.

Directions to Cornafean from Dublin 

  1. Take the N3 Road to Cavan town
  2. At the Tractamotors junction coming into Cavan Town, take a left turn onto the N55 (South) road. You will reach the village of Ballinagh after approx. 5 miles. In Ballinagh, you will meet a crossroads junction after the Church. Take a right turn here. You are now on the road to Killeshandra. After a further 2 miles you will reach the village of Crossdoney.
  3. Continue a further 2 miles until you see signs for a left-turn towards Arvagh. Take this road for a further 1 mile and you will reach a crossroads with a sign pointing left for "Cornafean Golf". You are now at Cornafean Cross.

From Cornafean Cross.........

Take a left turn to go to McSeain's Pub and Cornafean Golf Course (1/2 mile).

or

Continue directly ahead to go to Cornafean Football Pitch (1/2 mile),  Coronea Church and Coronea National School (2 miles) or the village of Arva (5 miles).

or

Take a right turn to go to the Pighouse Folk Museum (1 mile - follow sign up avenue to Museum) or Corlis National School (2 miles)

From Crossdoney (Ballinagh approach road).

Take a right turn in the village and continue 3 miles to reach St. Feithlimidh's Cathedral (Church of Ireland), Kilmore.

 

To reach Drumcor R.C. Church and Killykeen Forest Park, follow the same road from Crossdoney. After 3 miles, you will see St. Feithlimidh's Cathedral ahead of you. Just before you reach the Cathedral, take a left turn (signposted). Continue for 1 mile and take a right turn at the next junction. Continue for a further 1/2 mile and you will reach Drumcor R.C. Church. A further 2 miles down this road lies the entrance to Killykeen Forest Park.

To reach Killeshandra, continue on the main road from Crossdoney, for 5 miles until you reach Killeshandra

To reach Trinity Island Lodge, drive for 3 miles towards Killeshandra from Crossdoney. The entrance lane to the Lodge (on your right)  is signposted from the main road

 

Directions to Cornafean from Belfast

Approach Cavan town via Monaghan Town, Clones and the new Cavan By-pass, and follow the above directions from 2. onwards
